Slow Internet using Windows Vista (Vista Auto-Tuning) fix

Yesterday I did find the fix to
increase my Internet speed.
Since I did get my new computer for some weeks ago, my
Internet speed have been quite low, so yesterday I wanted to
research more about the problem, and found many other people, who
did have the exact same problem, when using Windows Vista, Normally
I download with 1000Kb/s but after installing Windows Vista
64 bit, my top speed was about 300Kb/s.
That isn't good enough, when I pay for about 4 times
better Internet speed. After some research I read
about people having problem with Mcafee, and their Internet
Phishing settings, which couldn't be my problem, because
I didn't have Mcafee installed.
If you're having the same problem with the Vista slow
Internet speed, and installed Mcafee, you maybe got this
problem too.
My problem was Windows Auto-tuning, which I
didn't know about, before researching about this problem. So the
fix to increase the Internet speed for me, was to disable
this Windows service, restart the system, and then I
did get full speed on my Vista machine again! Here is the
instructions to disable this Windows Auto-Tuning service.
Disable Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level on TCP/IP
1. Open a command prompt with administrator rights.
2. Input the following command, and press Enter when done:
netsh int tcp set global
autotuninglevel=disable
3. Restart the system.
If the problem still exists, you always can
return it back to default by following these instructions.
Enable Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level on TCP/IP
1. Open a command prompt with administrator rights.
2. Input the following command, and press Enter when done:
netsh int tcp set global
autotuninglevel=normal
3. Restart the system.
Hope you could use this blog about the Windows Vista
Internet speed problem.
